Pulau Tao Resort
/ Pulau Tao, Kab. Samosir, North Sumatera
/ 2020
/ Design Proposal
This high-end resort offers a truly unique and exclusive experience, being carefully tucked away from the public eye in a secluded setting. Nestled amid the lush greenery of a small, private island, it sits off the north-eastern tip of Samosir Island, which lies in the heart of Lake Toba, North Sumatra. The resort's location provides an unmatched opportunity for guests to immerse themselves in the serene beauty and tranquil atmosphere of the world's largest volcanic lake. Surrounded by dense tropical foliage and the pristine waters of Lake Toba, the resort offers an unparalleled sense of seclusion and peace.
Each private villa is strategically positioned to provide uninterrupted, sweeping views of the vast lake. Beyond the shimmering waters, guests can admire the majestic, undulating mountain ranges that cradle the lake, offering a stunning natural backdrop to every moment of their stay. The villas are designed to blend modern luxury with cultural authenticity, taking inspiration from the traditional architecture of the indigenous Batak people, native to this region. The roof of each villa mirrors the distinctive shape of the Batak’s traditional homes, with a graceful, curved membrane that forms a silhouette reminiscent of a traditional Batak roofline.
This design not only pays homage to the region’s rich cultural heritage but also enhances the resort's harmonious integration with the natural surroundings. Guests are pampered not just by the breathtaking views and luxury, but by the cultural depth embedded in every detail of their stay. The fusion of modern comfort with traditional Batak aesthetics offers a refined and soulful escape, where nature, culture, and luxury converge seamlessly.
